The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that 13 commercial vessels have been destroyed over the past three months as part of a maritime blockade of Iran.

CENTCOM said early Tuesday, October 6, in a post on X that the maritime blockade of Iran was implemented on July 14 on the orders of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The U.S. military claimed that the destroyed vessels were part of a multibillion-dollar clandestine network linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The announcement comes after CENTCOM previously reported that 130 commercial vessels had been forcibly diverted as of October 5.

Meanwhile, Tehran has said that the continuation of the U.S. maritime blockade of Iran would be interpreted as a continuation of the war.
