The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that 130 commercial vessels have been forced to change course as part of a naval blockade of Iran.
CENTCOM said early Tuesday, October 6, in a post on X that the vessels had been forced to reroute as of October 5.
The U.S. military said it is enforcing the naval blockade of Iran with high intensity and focus.
Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, said: “We will act swiftly against any vessel that attempts to evade the blockade.”
The remarks come as U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently claimed that, as part of an economic exclusion operation against Iran, Tehran has been unable to export any crude oil over the past month.
