Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury secretary, has claimed that the value of the Iranian rial has fallen to its lowest level following what he described as an “economic exclusion operation.”
Bessent wrote on X on Monday night, October 5, that Iran had exported no crude oil in the previous month as a result of the implementation of the economic exclusion operation.
According to Bessent, Iran is now facing one of the most difficult periods in its history, and the United States will not allow it to develop nuclear weapons.
He also accused Tehran of financing “terrorism” and said the economic exclusion operation would continue until Iran abandons efforts to develop nuclear weapons and what he described as the financing of terrorism.
Iran, however, has consistently described U.S. sanctions as ineffective and has maintained that it will not back down from its nuclear program.
