Local sources say that on Tuesday, residents of the “Dahan Piyazqol” area in Doshi district of Baghlan province clashed with “Gujar and Kuchi settlers” over privately owned land, leaving two residents injured.
Speaking to Hasht-e Subh Daily newspaper on Thursday, February 12, the sources said that the lands belonging to residents of the village of “Dosti” are backed by official “Malchar” land ownership documents, but have been seized by individuals accused of land grabbing.
Local sources added that the Gujars allegedly exploited the authority and influence of their affiliates within the Taliban administration to forcibly take control of the land.
According to the sources, the individuals acted under the protection of a man identified as Mawlawi Musa Gajari, the Taliban’s former district governor for Doshi, who is said to support the Gujars in the land seizure.
This comes as similar reports have previously emerged from various provinces across the country of armed individuals seizing land by force, often leveraging local power and ties to Taliban authorities.
Residents say they have repeatedly approached institutions under the Taliban administration with official documents to reclaim their property rights, but in many cases, no action has been taken to restore their ownership.
