The Taliban officials in Logar reported that due to flooding in the province, 60 residential houses, hundreds of acres of agricultural land, and several nomadic tents have been destroyed.
The flooding in Logar occurred on Monday, May 29, following heavy rainfall.
Mawlawi Abdullah Mofaker, head of the Taliban’s Natural Disasters Response in Logar, stated that residential houses and agricultural land in the villages of Alozai, Haji Galon, Babus, Zard-Gol, Joma, and Shadi-Khok from the areas related to Pul-e Alam city, the center of Logar, were submerged.
According to Mofaker, food and emergency aid has been distributed to the affected people, and assessment teams are investigating the extent of the damage suffered by the population.
The exact extent of agricultural land destroyed as a result of the floods in Logar is still unknown.
The recent rainfall and floods have caused significant damage in Logar as farmers are currently harvesting their crops.
Agricultural authorities do not view the current rainfall beneficial to the farmers in any way.
Previously, the Taliban’s Meteorological Department had warned on Sunday of the upcoming heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and immediate flooding in nearly 20 provinces in the country in the coming days.
