Asif Durani, Pakistan’s former special representative for Afghanistan, says the situation in Afghanistan has slipped beyond the Taliban’s control and that regional countries must take action.
Writing on his X account on Monday, 24 November 2025, Durani stated that the presence of more than 20 terrorist groups in Afghanistan has been confirmed by the United Nations.
The former Pakistani envoy urged regional states to intervene to help stabilize the situation in Afghanistan.
Durani’s remarks come as Pakistani political analysts have recently discussed the possibility of regime change in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, representatives from Denmark, Russia, and Pakistan last week expressed concern over the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, particularly Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
These countries described TTP as a serious threat to both Central and South Asia.
