Taliban local authorities have confirmed that 18 members of a single family were killed in Nangarhar province as a result of Pakistani airstrikes.

Sayed Tayyeb Hammad, spokesperson for the Taliban’s security command in Nangarhar, said on Sunday, February 22, that out of 24 family members, only four survived.

The family was targeted in the Behsud district of Nangarhar.

According to the Taliban, the head of the family, Shahabuddin, and his family members, including women and children, were among the casualties.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Intelligence has confirmed that seven hideouts of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS in Afghanistan were targeted.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense condemned the attacks and warned that a response would be delivered at an appropriate time.

Pakistan has previously carried out airstrikes across various provinces of Afghanistan, including Kabul.

These attacks have drawn condemnation from several Afghan political figures as well as Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
