Naseer Ahmad Faiq, Chargé d’Affaires of Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, says civilians in Afghanistan should not pay the price for the dispute between Pakistan and the Taliban over the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Faiq condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand on Thursday evening, October 1, saying on X that the strikes, confirmed by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), killed at least 10 civilians, mostly children.
Faiq also condemned the Taliban’s policies of sheltering and supporting terrorist groups, including the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, saying these policies put Afghanistan and the region at risk.
He stressed that combating terrorism cannot justify harming civilians or violating Afghanistan’s territorial integrity.
Faiq called for an immediate halt to cross-border clashes, the protection of civilians and full compliance with international law.
