The Taliban have announced that 219 Afghan migrant families, comprising 971 people, entered Afghanistan through the Torkham, Pul-e Abrishum, Spin Boldak and Islam Qala border crossings on Friday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban spokesperson, said in a statement on Saturday, October 3, that 58 families, comprising 263 people, entered the country through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar.
According to the statement, 124 families, comprising 555 people, also returned to Afghanistan through the Pul-e Abrishum crossing in Nimroz.
Fitrat said 19 families, comprising 94 people, entered the country through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar.
Meanwhile, 18 families, comprising 95 people, entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat.
Meanwhile, the United Nations and aid organizations have expressed concern about the pressure caused by the large-scale return of migrants on Afghanistan’s capacity to receive returnees, as well as their limited access to housing, livelihoods and basic services.
