The Taliban have announced that more than 600 Afghan migrants were forcibly returned to the country the previous day.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban spokesperson, said in a statement on Sunday, September 13, that 137 families, comprising 610 people, had returned to Afghanistan through border crossings.

According to him, 85 families, comprising 400 people, entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar, while seven families, comprising 30 people, entered through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar.

Another 39 families, comprising 151 people, returned through the Silk Bridge in Nimroz, while six families, comprising 29 people, returned through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat.

The Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings are among the main routes used by Afghan migrants to enter the country.

In recent months, large numbers of Afghan migrants have entered Afghanistan from Pakistan through these two crossings.
