The Taliban announced that 639 families comprising 3,448 individuals entered Afghanistan yesterday through various routes.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, said in a statement on Wednesday, June 10, that these families entered the country through the Torkham, Spin Boldak, Islam Qala, and Nimruz border crossings.
According to the statement, 395 families comprising 2,994 individuals were returned to the country via the Torkham crossing.
The Taliban also said that 54 families entered through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province, 30 families through the Nimruz crossing, and 16 families through the Islam Qala border in Herat.
In recent months, the process of returning and deporting Afghan migrants from neighboring countries has increased, leading to a growing number of families returning to Afghanistan in succession.
These migrants were returned at a time when the United Kingdom announced yesterday that around 22 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance.
