Local sources in Khost Province report that Jihad Mohammad Gul Nawaie, a former commando officer of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense, has been detained and tortured by Belarusian police upon crossing the country’s border. He is currently under police supervision in a hospital.
The sources told Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, October 5, that Nawaie was forced to flee Afghanistan through irregular routes following the collapse of the republic due to security threats.
According to the sources, after being subjected to severe torture and prolonged detention without attention from authorities, his hand turned black from injury and was ultimately amputated in a hospital.
This incident comes amid reports that several former Afghan military personnel have recently been arrested, tortured, or killed by the Taliban after returning to Afghanistan.
