Local sources in Ghor report the tragic death of a young man in the province after being brutally beaten by the Taliban.
Sources on Sunday, December 10th, state that the incident occurred in the Tolak district of Ghor province.
According to the sources, the young man, named Sediqullah, was detained ten days ago by the Taliban’s security commander for Tolak district on charges of “theft” and subjected to “brutal” torture in the group’s prison for six consecutive days.
It is reported that due to excessive torture in the Taliban’s prison, the young man became “unconscious” and was transferred to Herat by his relatives for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries after four nights.
According to the accounts of the sources, the Taliban’s security commander in the Tolak district detained this young man without any documents and subsequently subjected him to torture.
To date, the Taliban in Ghor have not provided any statements regarding this matter.
Previously, the Taliban have detained and tortured both military and civilian individuals in the country, and, in some instances, led to fatalities.
