Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) office in Geneva, has said that the suppression of protests in Herat will be reviewed at the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council.
Nasir Ahmad Andisha wrote on X on Monday, 15 June 2026, that the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council has begun its work in Geneva.
Andisha said that at this session, human rights issues in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, including Decree No. 18 issued by Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, Taliban Supreme Leader, will be reviewed and documented.
He added that the violence and arrests in Herat will also be examined by the UN Human Rights Council.
The 62nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva has officially started its work today.
