Yemen’s Houthis have claimed that they attacked a major oil facility in Saudi Arabia using ballistic missiles and drones.
Al Jazeera reported early Sunday, October 4, that Yahya Saree, a spokesperson for the Houthis, made the claim.
The statement came after flames and a large column of smoke were seen rising over an Aramco refinery on Saturday, prompting firefighters to respond to the blaze.
Saudi authorities and Aramco have not yet issued an immediate statement on the cause of the fire.
Yahya Saree said the attacks caused fires at the targeted facility and were carried out in response to Saudi airstrikes on areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, including Sanaa.
He claimed that around 60 airstrikes had been carried out against Houthi-controlled areas over the past 24 hours.
