Iranian media report that a man has been executed on charges of espionage and intelligence cooperation with Israel.
The Mizan News Agency said on Wednesday, May 13, that the individual, identified as Ehsan Afrashteh, was executed early today.
According to the report, he received training from Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, in Nepal.
Mizan also said he had been providing “sensitive national information” to Israel.
Iran is considered one of the countries with the highest execution rates in the world.
Reports say that following a 40-day war with Israel and the United States, Iran has accelerated executions of detained protesters accused of spying for the US and Israel.
