A 17-year-old youth has died following the explosion of a mortar shell in Ghazni Province, local sources say.

Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, October 31, that the incident occurred in Badr village, Ab Band District, Ghazni Province.

According to the sources, the youth found a mortar shell and set it on fire, causing it to explode and kill him.

The sources identified the victim as Mohammad Akbar, who worked as a shepherd.

This comes three days after a child was also killed in a mortar shell explosion in Nangarhar Province.
