The Taliban have announced that 237 people returned to Afghanistan through various border crossings yesterday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban’s deputy spokesperson, said in a statement on Saturday, October 31, that 29 families comprising 147 people entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing.
According to the statement, 10 families returned through the Spin Boldak crossing, 38 families through the Nimroz border crossing, and another three families through the Islam Qala crossing.
This comes as the deportation of migrants from Afghanistan by neighboring countries, including Iran and Pakistan, continues.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has also warned that renewed clashes near the Torkham border crossing are putting civilians, including returning migrants, at risk.
