The internet monitoring group NetBlocks has announced that internet connectivity in Iran has been partially restored after more than two thousand hours of near-total disruption.
NetBlocks reported on Tuesday, May 26, that this development came after 88 days and approximately 2,093 hours of severe restrictions and isolation from international networks.
The outage is said to be the longest nationwide internet blackout in Iran’s history.
NetBlocks noted that it remains unclear whether the restored connection will hold or whether it represents only a temporary return.
This comes in the context of a broader shutdown that began following the start of the joint United States and Israeli military campaign against Iran, during which internet access was cut off across the country, leaving thousands of people unable to access global networks and information.
