Iranian security forces claimed that six members of a terrorist group were killed in a clash with Iranian border guards in the border region of Zabol, in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported on Saturday, June 6, that the clash took place the previous night in the Zabol border area, near the border with Afghanistan and adjacent to Nimroz province.
Military officials in Sistan and Baluchestan stated that a team of individuals affiliated with a terrorist group had intended to cross into Iranian territory and attack border posts.
According to the report, border guards intervened, leading to a fierce exchange between the two sides, and Iranian forces succeeded in preventing the group from entering the country.
Iran attributed the individuals to a terrorist group without naming the organization.
This comes as Taliban fighters have previously clashed on multiple occasions with Iranian military personnel along the Nimroz border.
In recent years, concerns over the activities of terrorist groups in border areas have grown, particularly along the borders shared by Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan.
Despite security efforts by countries in the region to control their borders, clashes and military operations in these areas have continued, further heightening concerns about the stability and security of shared border zones.
