Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Tehran is awaiting an official response from Washington by tomorrow following indirect talks with the United States through Qatar.
Al Jazeera reported early Tuesday, September 29, that Araghchi made the remarks to reporters in New York.
According to the report, Araghchi said Tehran had presented a “fair and reasonable” proposal to resolve the crisis and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, provided that certain conditions are met.
The Iranian foreign minister added that Qatari mediators had presented new ideas during their latest meeting to reduce differences and pave the way for the implementation of Tehran’s proposals.
He said: “Such communication and exchanges of messages through Qatari and Pakistani mediators have always existed, but given the proposal Iran has presented, the process has now taken on a more serious nature.”
This comes as US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
