Hamid Karzai, former president of Afghanistan, has called on Pakistan to reverse its decision to expel Afghan medical students from the country.
The former president wrote on X on Thursday, September 10, that Pakistan’s decision to prevent Afghan students from continuing their studies was regrettable.
He said that the activities of academic institutions should be kept separate from political disputes between countries.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has recently moved to expel Afghan students studying medicine in the country.
The council has asked current Afghan students to leave Pakistan and has also instructed medical universities in the country not to enroll new Afghan students.
The decision has drawn widespread criticism and reactions internationally.
