Several residents in Herat Province say that Taliban Morality Police have been inspecting people’s mobile phones in several areas of the city today.
Local sources told Hasht-e Subh Daily on Wednesday, October 8, that Taliban officers stopped people, particularly young men, at several intersections in the city and checked the contents of their phones.
According to residents, Taliban surveillance and control over people’s daily lives have increased in recent weeks, with many describing these actions as a blatant violation of personal privacy.
Sources added that individuals may have private or family-related content on their phones, but Taliban members access it without permission.
It is reported that this is not the first time the Taliban’s Morality Police have searched residents’ phones in the city.
At the same time, new restrictions on internet use and social media have sparked widespread concern among citizens.
Residents say these restrictions are a sign of the Taliban’s tightening control over people’s communications and private lives.
