Morocco national football team moved to the top of Group C after a 1–0 victory over Scotland national football team on Friday night.
The match was decided just 71 seconds after kickoff when Ismael Saibari scored the only goal of the game, recording the fastest goal of the tournament so far.
Morocco controlled much of the match and created several opportunities but was unable to add to its lead.
With the victory, Morocco collected four points and climbed to the top of Group C.
The team will face Haiti national football team in its final group-stage match.
Scotland, meanwhile, remains on three points and will take on Brazil national football team in its final group game.
After the match, Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi praised his players’ performance and said his side deserved the victory.
According to published statistics, Moroccan players completed 601 passes during the match, the highest number of passes recorded by an African team in a World Cup match since 1966.
