Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and discussed bilateral relations and the expansion of economic and trade cooperation.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday, October 5, that the two sides also discussed regional issues and the continuation of political consultations between the Taliban and Russia.
Muttaqi stressed the need to strengthen political understanding between the two sides and called for increased cooperation in the economic, trade and transit sectors.
He said the Taliban attaches importance to expanding long-term cooperation with Russia and emphasized the continuation of cooperation to ensure regional stability.
Meanwhile, Sergey Lavrov stressed the importance of continuing political consultations between the two sides and expressed Russia’s interest in strengthening economic and trade relations with the Taliban.
