Local sources say that unknown gunmen have killed a well-known figure in Nangarhar province.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, that the individual was named Sahibullah Nazar and was killed in the Surkh Rod district of Nangarhar province.
According to the sources, the unknown gunmen targeted him near his home and then fled the scene.
The sources add that the exact motive behind the attack is not yet clear.
This comes as similar cases of targeted killings and rising insecurity in some provinces of the country have previously been reported.
In another incident, local sources said that a farmer in the Deh Sabz district of Kabul province, after selling two cattle, was attacked by thieves and lost his life.
