The Taliban have announced that the construction of a water supply network in Siyah Gird Ghorband district of Parwan province has been completed and put into operation with the support of the Aga Khan Foundation.
The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency reported on Thursday, July 30, that the water supply network was built in Osman Ghani village of Siyah Gird Ghorband district.
According to the report, the construction cost of the network was 4.4 million Afghanis, which was covered through financial support from the Aga Khan Foundation.
Officials from the Taliban’s Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Parwan said that the completion of this project has provided access to clean drinking water for 232 families in the area.
This comes as access to safe drinking water remains one of the major challenges in Afghanistan.
A large number of families, particularly in rural areas, do not have sufficient access to clean water sources, while inadequate water supply infrastructure, economic difficulties, and drought are cited as contributing factors to the situation.
