Tajudeen Oyewale, the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan, says that investment in the water and health sectors in Parwan Province has had positive impacts.

Oyewale reported on Thursday, October 8, that UNICEF has expanded solar-powered water supply systems and water, sanitation and hygiene services in various parts of Parwan.

According to him, these services have been provided in schools, health centres and local communities, helping improve people’s access to clean water.

He added that no cases of water-related diseases have been reported this year in areas covered by these programmes.

UNICEF has previously stressed that access to clean water and adequate sanitation services is important for protecting children’s health and preventing diseases.
