The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that mobile health teams, supported by the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF), are providing essential healthcare services to people in remote areas of the country.
The organization said on Sunday, August 23, on its X account that health needs in Afghanistan exceed available resources, with the health sector receiving only 37 percent of the funding required.
OCHA said a total of $191 million has been requested for Afghanistan’s health sector, but only $71 million has been received so far.
The organization added that mobile health teams are reaching remote areas to provide lifesaving health services to communities with limited access to healthcare facilities.
OCHA said the continuation of these services requires additional funding, as a lack of resources is limiting the ability to respond to people’s healthcare needs.
