The Washington Post has reported that the number of US service members killed during the war with Iran is higher than the figure announced by the Pentagon.
The Washington Post reported on Saturday, September 19, citing six US officials, that at least 22 US service members have been killed since the war with Iran began.
This comes as the Pentagon has recorded 18 deaths among US service members in its public figures.
According to the report, another official put the death toll among US service members at 23.
The official added that three US contractors based in the Middle East have also been killed since the start of the operation.
However, details about the identities and circumstances of the deaths of some service members whose names do not appear in the Pentagon’s public figures remain unclear. The Pentagon has also not responded to questions about the discrepancy between its internal and public casualty figures.
According to the Pentagon’s public figures, more than 820 US service members have also been wounded since the war with Iran began.
