Pakistan’s army says it has killed 15 “terrorists” who were attempting to enter Pakistan through the Afghanistan border.
Dawn reported on Thursday, September 3, that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, announced the incident in a statement.
According to the report, the army said the “terrorists” had attempted to cross into Pakistan from the Afghanistan border in North Waziristan three nights earlier.
The Pakistani military said the individuals were killed following a 36-hour clash with Pakistani security forces.
The ISPR identified the individuals as fighters affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The military statement said the incident once again confirmed Pakistan’s longstanding position regarding the Taliban’s alleged failure to prevent Afghan territory from being used by what it described as a “terrorist organization” for cross-border terrorism.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department also announced the arrest of two alleged TTP members in Karachi, claiming that they had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan for terrorist activities.
