Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, says his country is working to help resolve the ongoing disputes between the Taliban and Pakistan.
Speaking on Sunday, December 7, 2025, during the 23rd Doha Forum in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, the Qatari foreign minister said that countries grappling with instability, such as Afghanistan and Palestine, require inclusive political participation.
He added, “Regional crises, whether in Afghanistan, Palestine, or beyond, cannot be resolved without involving the principal actors on the ground.”
Qatar hosted years of negotiations on Afghanistan, talks that ultimately paved the way for the Doha Agreement, the withdrawal of U.S. forces, and the Taliban’s return to power.
Following the recent military tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, Doha convened the first round of talks between the two sides, during which a ceasefire was agreed.
However, the subsequent two rounds of negotiations held in Istanbul ended without a result, and the ceasefire ultimately collapsed.
