Local sources in Nangarhar have reported that Taliban fighters raided the Angor Bagh area of Jalalabad city and forcibly evicted residents from their homes.

Sources confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, October 10, that Taliban fighters had forcibly evicted residents from at least 40 homes in Angor Bagh, in the city’s fourth district, around noon that day.

According to the sources, residents who have lived in the area for nearly four decades and possess legal ownership documents and deeds recognized under Islamic law have been ordered by the Taliban to vacate their homes.

The sources said the Taliban disregarded the residents’ ownership documents, declaring the land in the area to be the private property of a nomad from the Kuchis community who is reportedly close to Shahabuddin Delawar, head of the Taliban’s Red Crescent Society. The Taliban then ordered the residents to leave their homes.

The sources stressed that hundreds of local residents, including women and children, are currently left outdoors, facing an uncertain situation.
