Sources in Kabul say the Taliban have shut down Khatam al-Nabieen University and told its students not to return to the university and to find another institution to continue their studies.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Tuesday, September 15, that the decision was made while students are about three weeks away from taking their 20 percent semester exams.
According to the sources, students had been told at the beginning of the semester that the university had become a public institution.
The sources said medical students have also been affected by the university’s closure. It remains unclear which universities they and students from other departments will be able to attend to continue their studies.
The sources added that they were told the university had been closed due to what was described as “unscientific and religious activities.”
