Local sources in Badakhshan claim that a vehicle carrying the Taliban’s chief judge in the province was targeted in a mine explosion.

Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Wednesday, October 7, that the incident occurred at the intersection of Project and Shahr-e Naw in Faizabad.

The sources said the explosion was caused by a mine. However, details about how the incident occurred, the number of people injured and the condition of the Taliban court chief remain unclear.

The incident comes as Taliban officials in the province have also been targeted in attacks in recent days.

Earlier, several Taliban intelligence employees were targeted in a motorcycle bomb explosion in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan.

Zabihullah Amiri, the Taliban’s director of information and culture in Badakhshan, was also killed in an armed incident near Faizabad.
