The Taliban have announced that 192 families, comprising 887 people, were forcibly returned to Afghanistan the previous day.
Hamdullah Fitrat, spokesperson for the Taliban, said on X on Saturday, September 12, that 89 families, comprising 451 people, returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar.
Fitrat added that 19 families, comprising 100 people, returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar, while 65 families, comprising 266 people, returned through the Silk Bridge in Nimroz.
According to him, another 19 families, comprising 70 people, entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat.
The returns come as Afghanistan faces widespread challenges, including unemployment, poverty, and shortages of basic services. The return of migrants could place additional pressure on families in need.
