Sources in Kabul say that the Taliban have, for the past few days, prohibited women from entering the Sakhi shrine in Kabul city.
These sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, December 11, that the reasons for this ban include the failure to observe the hijab as prescribed by the Taliban, the mixed presence of women and men, and photography.
According to the sources, women are queuing behind the shrine’s gates, but the Taliban are not allowing them to enter.
It is said that this shrine was the only religious site in Kabul where the Taliban previously permitted women to enter for worship.
This comes as, following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, the Taliban declared women’s entry to historical sites, religious places, and recreational parks prohibited.
