Reports from local sources within Faryab province have confirmed the detention of two former government soldiers by the Taliban in the region.
The detained individuals have been identified as Maroof Atayi and Sebghatullah Atayi, taken into custody on Saturday, April 6th, from the Kohistan district of Faryab province.
Maroof and Sebghatullah were previously associated with the Ministry of Interior Affairs under the previous government but had transitioned to agricultural pursuits following the Taliban’s assumption of power.
At present, the motivations behind the detention of these two individuals remain obscure.
Taliban security officials in Faryab have refrained from offering any comments on the matter.
Regrettably, the detention and disappearance of former government soldiers by the Taliban represent a recurring occurrence.
In parallel developments, it has been reported that another former soldier in Balkh province succumbed to injuries inflicted through Taliban interrogation tactics earlier today.
