The Taliban’s Supreme Court says three individuals, including a woman, have been flogged in Faryab province on charges of extramarital relations and “running away from home.”
In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, the court said the punishments were carried out in the districts of Khwaja Musa and Qaramqol.
According to the Taliban, two of the individuals were each sentenced to three years in prison and 39 lashes.
The statement added that the third person was sentenced only to 30 lashes.
The Taliban also flogged another individual in Kabul a day earlier.
Over the past 10 months, the group has flogged more than 800 people through its so-called mobile courts.
