The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has claimed that 530 tons of essential aid have been sent to Gaza via the Rafah border between Egypt and Palestine.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement on Wednesday, April 15, that the aid was provided on the orders of Mullah Hassan Akhund, the group’s prime minister.

According to the statement, the aid was sent in 42 cargo trucks and is intended to be distributed to 22,000 families.

The Taliban have stated that the value of this aid is $500,000.

The group said that the aid was procured in Egypt and dispatched from there.

The Taliban have consistently expressed their support for the people of Palestine and the group Hamas.

The aid has been sent at a time when, according to the United Nations, around 22 million people in Afghanistan depend on humanitarian assistance.
