The Taliban Ministry of Justice has announced that, over the past four years, it has seized 49 residential townships in 14 provinces across the country, either partially or entirely.
The ministry said in a statement on Thursday, September 17, that the Taliban Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and Restitution of Usurped Lands has reviewed residential township lands across the country since beginning its operations.
According to the statement, the seized townships are located in the provinces of Kabul, Balkh, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Helmand, Jawzjan, Samangan, Zabul, Faryab, Baghlan, Parwan and Kunduz.
The statement said orders to seize the lands were issued by the Taliban Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Special Court for Addressing Cases of Usurped Lands.
Since retaking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have seized numerous plots of land and residential townships.
