Sources say the Taliban have closed all shops in the Asia Market at the second Ahmad Shah Baba Mina intersection in Kabul.
According to sources on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Taliban-run municipality has demanded three years’ worth of back taxes from shopkeepers.
The sources added that many shopkeepers were unable to pay the heavy sums, leading the Taliban to seal their shops.
Except for the Medical stores, all other shops in the market have been shut down.
It is worth noting that over the past four years, the Taliban have imposed heavy taxes on both shopkeepers and street vendors.
