The Taliban Foreign Ministry summoned Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires in Kabul to protest Pakistan’s violation of Afghanistan’s airspace and its airstrikes on civilian areas and facilities in Kunar and Paktika provinces.
The ministry said in a statement on Monday, September 21, that it considers Pakistan’s attacks a clear violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity and strongly condemned them.
The Taliban also rejected claims that recent security incidents in Pakistan originated from Afghan territory.
The statement said that making such claims and using them to justify military actions was an attempt to distort facts and mislead public opinion.
The Taliban Foreign Ministry called on Pakistan to focus on identifying and addressing the real causes of its security and political problems instead of blaming other countries and linking its domestic problems to external factors.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) also confirmed that three civilians were killed and four others wounded in airstrikes in Kunar province.
