The oil tanker-tracking company TankerTrackers has reported that at least 56 oil tankers are secretly transporting oil from Arab countries neighboring Iran.
The company wrote on Saturday evening, August 8, on X that the vessels are passing through the Strait of Hormuz to conduct covert ship-to-ship transfers in the Gulf of Oman.
According to the company, the fleet has been “visually identified” but is operating in “digital darkness” to support oil exports from Arab countries neighboring Iran.
This comes as the Strait of Hormuz has remained closed following the Iran-US war, and efforts to reopen it have so far failed.
However, Tehran has warned that it does not recognize routes other than the route designated by Iran.
