Kabul – The Department of Maintenance and Care of Salang Highways has said that the work of 30 km of the North and South Salang Highways has been completed.
On (Wednesday, November 10) the director of Maintenance and Care of the Salang Highways told Hasht-e Subh that they have completed the repair of 30 km of the Salang Highway.
In addition, the reconstruction of the Salang Highway, which was started by them about a month ago, has been completed and will be put into operation soon, the director added.
At the same time, he noted that the repair and graveling of 30 km of Salang Road had cost more than 53 million afghanis.
Furthermore, the electrical system of the Salang tunnel, the station of which had already been built, had also been activated, Abdullah Obaid said.
However, a number of pedestrians and drivers on this route told Hasht-e Subh that if the asphalting work on the road is not completed before winter arrives, this highway will return to its original status.
Moreover, the Salang Highway must be fundamentally rebuilt so that it is not destroyed again, people said.
In the past, a number of construction companies had repaired this important highway, but due to the incomplete process of reconstruction and asphalting on the one hand and the low quality of the work of these companies on the other hand, this highway returned to its original status in less than a year.
