US President Donald Trump has said that the “totally botched” withdrawal from Afghanistan under “Sleepy Joe Biden” led to the deaths of American troops.
The White House published Trump’s message early Thursday, August 27, in which he referred to the killing of 13 US service members in an explosion at Kabul airport.
Trump described the deaths of the American troops as a tragedy and accused the administration of former US President Joe Biden of leaving American service members defenseless.
He also said that the failed US withdrawal, under the Biden administration, allowed the Taliban to free thousands of terrorists who had been held at Bagram prison.
Thirteen US service members and dozens of Afghan civilians were killed in an explosion at the gates of Kabul airport during the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
However, Trump, whose first administration reached an agreement with the Taliban following negotiations between the United States and the group, has repeatedly blamed the Biden administration for the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan.
