Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s foreign minister, and Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, have met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Anadolu reported early Saturday, September 26, that the meeting took place in New York on Friday.
According to the report, no details about the content of the meeting have been released. However, regional issues, developments in the Middle East, the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, and tensions between Iran and the United States were likely among the issues discussed by the two sides.
This comes as Turkey and several regional countries have repeatedly stressed the importance of dialogue and negotiations to resolve tensions between Iran and the United States.
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister recently announced that Tehran had presented the United States with a seven-day plan under which the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened within seven days.
