Tajhan Mollamov, Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, said construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Uzbek media outlets reported on Tuesday, September 22, quoting Mollamov as saying that completion of the Serhetabat-Herat section would create the necessary conditions for natural gas transmissions to Afghanistan to begin in 2027.
Mollamov made the remarks at the “Ambassadors’ Evening 2026,” organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Islamabad.
According to him, implementation of TAPI and other regional energy projects could help ensure a stable energy supply and create new opportunities for industrial and economic growth in Pakistan.
Turkmenistan considers the project an important route for ensuring reliable access to cleaner energy, promoting sustainable economic growth across the region, and strengthening regional cooperation.
