The U.S. Virtual Embassy in Iran has issued a security alert urging American citizens not to travel to Iran and to leave the country if they are currently there.
The embassy said in a statement late Sunday, September 20, that all U.S. citizens were warned against traveling to Iran for any reason.
According to the statement, the United States warned that the conflict between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia has the potential to escalate rapidly.
This comes a day after the U.S. Department of State also urged American citizens not to travel to countries in the Middle East.
The U.S. Department of State warned that Iran and forces aligned with it are seeking to target U.S.-associated locations, personnel, and military forces.
