Ukraine has accused Russia of carrying out a drone strike on a train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and several European officials near the Polish border.
Anadolu Agency reported on Sunday night, September 13, that Kyiv said Russia targeted the locomotive shortly before the diplomatic train arrived at Yahodyn station. Ukrainian railway officials said the train had departed earlier than scheduled, and the drone struck another train shortly afterward.
According to the report, Ukraine’s state railway operator said security advisers from several European Union member states and former European leaders, including Johnson, had been aboard the diplomatic train.
The company also said David Petraeus, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), was on another train at Yahodyn station when the attack occurred. No casualties were reported.
Ukrainian Railways accused Moscow of continuing attempts to target civilian trains. Russia has not yet responded to Ukraine’s latest allegations.
